After announcing that its Zen@CentralWorld branch will close on Nov 30, True Fitness has left many members fearing for the future of its other branches.

Our story on the closure of the CentralWorld branch brought out other members who say they were still being sold memberships at that branch up until the end of October. Commenter Duta Alamsyah says he was sold a new membership at the Zen branch as recently as Oct 25 with no mention of the impending closure.

Many people are also now questioning the strength of True Fitness's other branches, particularly Exchange Tower at Asoke. We called True Fitness at Exchange Tower and were told by the operator, “I’m not really sure,” when we pressed for confirmation that it would remain open. True Fitness's head office has not yet replied to our requests for comment.

A Line chat group has now formed at the ID "welovesalary" for people wishing to cancel their True Fitness memberships and to keep members updated.

Those who are being refused refunds for True Fitness memberships should contact the Office of The Consumer Protection Board Thailand (OCPB), the government agency responsible for handling complaints and instituting legal proceedings related to infringements on consumer rights.

We spoke to one of the OCPB's officers, Siwachaya Sookkum, who says she has already received numerous complaints from True Fitness members in the last few days.

“The outcome of this kind of case really depends on the contract and evidence both parties have," said Siwachaya. "If you file a complaint with our office, you have to wait 15-30 working days and then we call both parties in on the same day to be interviewed by our authorities in private rooms, not together."

"Most cases cannot be closed in one day, so we most likely have to call both parties back in again,” she said. You can file a complaint online at www.ocpb.go.th or call their hotline number 1166.

As for the member we spoke to who bought a 3-year membership in August for B38,499, he says he has tried to get a refund through his bank with no success.

“I already contacted my bank and they said they couldn’t do anything about it unless True Fitness sent them an official letter,” said the member. He decline to be named in this story due to his ongoing attempt to get a refund from True Fitness.
