ArchDaily, the website dedicated to everything architecture, has announced the shortlist for this year’s Building of the Year Awards, and among the nominees is the Thai project The Wine Ayutthaya.

With a design by Boonserm Premthada of Bangkok Project Studio, The Wine Ayutthaya is an extension to the Grand Chaophraya Ayutthaya Restaurant, already famous for its river prawns and river views.

Boonserm takes inspiration from Thailand's wooden houses to create a stunning design that blends with the surrounding greenery. Behind the plywood and PVC exterior is a space divided into four zones and five spiral staircases connecting to the upper floor. The wine bar is on the ground floor, which offers plenty of river views to go with the wine.

Top prizes will handed out in 15 different categories that include House and Offices, with the Thai project in the running for the Hospitality design award. Other Hospitality award contenders include our neighbor KOI Cafe in Vietnam or the “lunchtime restaurant” JIKKA in Japan.
