Starting May 1, Bangkok is getting a new private taxi firm that promises to never refuse service to passengers (just like this guy) or charge above the metered rate.

All Thai Taxi is intended to remedy the various complaints from Thais and tourists about the city's taxi driver conduct, as well as compete with international app-based taxi platforms like Uber.

Belonging to the big-name inter-provincial bus service Nakhonchai Air, the firm claims it will also do away with run-down, gas-fueled Toyota Altis, opting instead for Hybrid Toyota Prius cars equipped with GPS tracking, chauffeur identification data, a speed regulator, passenger screens and a user comment-sharing platform.

The initial launch will include 500 cars, which passengers can call using an app or via hotline at 1624, or by flagging down empty vehicles on the street.

The drivers will also get fixed salaries and commissions, which the firm believes will decentivize passenger selection. The firm even said they plan to offer a female chaffeur request.

Trials begin in April. There's no official website yet, but you can get updates from the parent company at www.nca.co.th
