Leica's limited-edition golden cameras honoring HM the King go on display next week, and you can actually buy one
An exhibition will display 88 of the rare collectors' items.

Back in 1996, Leica M6 produced a special golden edition of their camera stamped with the king's royal symbol in celebration of HM the King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 50th year on the throne. Exactly 700 of them were sold to Thai people, going at $10,000 (approx. B354,000) a piece. Now, 20 years later, the camera has become a rare collectors' item.
This Nov 29 onwards, Kasikorn Bank and the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand collaborate in remembrance of the king's passion for photography in an exhibition displaying 88 of the golden cameras. They'll be on display at the Royal Photographic Society's hall on the second floor of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (939 Rama 1 Rd. BTS National Stadium).
What's more, avid camera lovers can also buy one to take home—though keep in mind they are said to be selling for B399,999 each. All proceeds will be donated to the Thai Red Cross society under the patronage of HM Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
