Commuters have been left in chaos this morning as service problems between Chit Lom and Siam stations mean that many are still stranded on platforms and waiting for up to 20 minutes between stations on the Sukhumvit line.

Despite a Twitter post from the BTS at around 6:00am acknowledging problems on the line, commuters still found no warning outside stations that they would face long delays if they chose to use the Sukhumvit line.

Passengers continue to enter Chong Nonsi station as security guards watch by and the information screen remains turned off.

Even by 11:30am, the non-descript follow-up messages on Facebook and Twitter fail to provide any assistance on how to make alternative travel plans for the estimated 700,000 people who rely on the BTS every day, while the company's official website remains blank of any notifications.

Passengers have been quick to point out that not everyone uses Twitter and Facebook as a source of information:

"Not a word from the #BTS about the delay. The BTS people should realize not everyone is using Twitter."

Meanwhile, others have vented their frustration at recent fare hikes without improvements to service:

"The fare has been increased. Been there. Done that. Still doesn’t meet the standard!"

An hour after we tried to contact the BTS for comment, they were still unavailable.
