Those who take the skywalk between BTS Sala Daeng and MRT Silom will surely have noticed the big, bright yellow wall of metal boxes that has popped up recently.

Operated by Lock Box, these are electronic self-service lockers, similar to the ones you see at train stations all over Japan, where you can leave your gear for a couple of hours up to a full day.

The lockers come in four sizes—S, M, L and XL—with prices starting at B20/hour, though there's a minimum usage of two hours. The service is available 24 hours and you can leave your belongings there for up to four days, with special day rates available if you contact the call center (starting at B350 for 12-24 hours).

The self-service machine offers four languages (English, Thai, Chinese and Japanese) and accepts B1 coins up to B100 notes. You are asked to create a password and also enter your phone number as a back-up. After completing your payment, the locker pops open and you can input your belongings. If you overstay your allotted time, you'll have to pay more before you can retrieve your stuff.

Sala Daeng might be the first BTS station to offer this service, but it's been available at MRT Chatuchak and Makkasan stations since the end of last year. Lock Box is planning to open at all MRT stations Bangkok-wide, with MRT Hua Lamphong and Lad Phrao stations up next, as well as Don Mueang Airport.
