With the recent closure of esoteric Sukhumvit Soi 49 bookstore CEO Books, it's fair to say Bangkok's underground publishing scene is not at it's high water mark.

But one publication trying to change that is Khlong, which describes itself as an "annual publication of short and experimental fiction, poetry, illustration and photography concerning life in Asia's megacities."

After launching late last year, the zine, which has a particular focus on Bangkok, is now calling for submissions for its second edition. Confirmed contributors include high-profile Southeast Asia photojournalists Nick Nostitz, Nick McGrath and Benjamin Haselberger (see above).

Contributors are requested to keep things dark and weird. Send your photography, illustrations, and written contributions to khlonglife@gmail.com. The deadline is early July, but founder Chris Clarke advises "the sooner the better." Selected writers and artists will be compensated with a copy of the publication and a small sum of cash. See more at www.fb.com/khlonglife.

The first edition of Khlong is available for purchase at select Bangkok venues (Jam, Bridge and BACC's Bookmoby), as well as readery.co/khlong.
