Little Room in Etienne Marcel

The new dance by choreographer Jitti Chompee (read our interview) draws inspirations from a tale of Nontakal, a guardian giant who disobeys his order, is banished from heaven and reincarnate as a cursed buffalo. Apart from his usual collaborators Sirithorn Srichalakom, Anucha Sumaman and Krittin Kiatmetha, Jitti also collaborates with Silpathorn Award-winning actor Nikorn Saetang.

This week-long culinary celebration welcomes four leading international chefs, Thierry Dufroux (France), Joao Rodrigues, (Portugal), James Viles (Australia) and James Syhabout (USA), plus renowned wine master Debra Meiburg from Hong Kong.

Saifah Tanthana directs this new whimsical play by the On Box theater troupe, centering on the question: was the last Schomburgk's deer male or female? Performed by Vidura Amaranand and Wachara Gunha.

Occupying the whole studio in Punawithi, the interdisciplinary works of four female artists, Voraprada Voratananchai, Ladie Goodman, Nicharee Phatitit and Pisha Woramanakul, featuring live performances, visual projections and installations, with sound by Jacopo Gianninoto.

CACOPHONOUS #6: JAPAN NOISE

SO::ON Dry Flower and the Cacophonous music crew line up four Japanese noise acts, Astro, Shizuo Uchida, Jah Excretion and Reizen, to play alongside local performers Gamnad737 and Komootra.

Pichet Klunchun Dance Company stages a special round of Tam Kai, the dance piece in which performers draw inspiration from the movement of the dancer in front of him or her. Performed by the company’s dancers and the participants of a dance workshop held the week before.

This exhibition compiles two noir-ish series by young photographer Harit Srikhao, which capture the intense mood of dread and fear at night in the city. Opening reception on Sep 6, 6:30pm.

Nobori Thaijin (Salt x Awagami)

Bangkok-based artists Pariwat A-nantachina, Christian Hogue, Taechit Jiro and Chatchanok Wongvachara display their large-scale work printed on Awagami Factory’s digital washi paper. Opening reception with Japanese-Thai mashup DJ set by Logan Bay on Sep 6, 7pm.

P.A.S.T #5

The Alternative Thai collective presents indie acts Shadow Flare, Hariguem Zaboy, The Whitest Crow, electric.neon.lamp and Migrate to the Ocean, who will cover the old songs that inspired them, along with Boat The Yard & Friend, an exclusively formed band for the event.

Celebrating and questioning the absurd, the new art space stages three short plays: The Last Lesson by Eugene Ionesco, Picnic on the Battlefield by Fernando Arrabal and The 7th Floor by Suchart Sawasdsri. The three absurdist pieces will be directed and adapted by emerging directors.

Inson Wongsam: The Autonomous Spirit

Guest curated by Tuksina Pipitkul, this big exhibition celebrates the venerable Thai abstract artist Inson Wongsam, 80, displaying over 100 works, including sculptures (1974-now), woodprints (1999-now) and paintings (2013-now). It also features video art by Jirasak Saengpolsith and Wachara Kanha.
