The Movement Playground

You can train at this Phra Khanong gym without wearing any shoes.

Those who cringe at the idea of going to the gym might find a fun alternative in The Movement Playground.

Sukhumvit’s newly opened gym (formerly of Bangna) is basically an adult playground, full of obstacles for you to jump over, climb on to and hang from—no shoes required.

The instructors will have you running around barefoot like when you were a kid, all in the name of burning off calories and building strength.

“We forgot how our bodies are designed to move naturally, like climbing or jumping,” says Cindy Sirinya Bishop, the model, actress and #DontTellMeHowToDress activist who is one of the partners here.

The Movement Playground’s trainers have a strong background in parkour (free running), so are always on hand to teach you how to properly overcome obstacles.

If you’ve considered taking part in the grueling Spartan Race, coming here have a run around can help you conquer any fear you might have.

Classes are designed for three kinds of training: guardian functional training, parkour and Spartan training. Morning classes kick off as early as 7am.

Memberships start at B150 for an hour of open gym, B550 for a class drop-in, or B2,500 for a package of five classes. Unlimited monthly membership starts at B4,400.
