Berlin Pharmaceutical Museum

This Chareonkrung museum charts the history of Western medicine in Thailand.

Chareonkrung Road’s new museum charts the history of Western medicine in Thailand from the 17th-century Ayutthaya period onwards.

Called the Berlin Pharmaceutical Museum because it takes up residence in the iconic, European-styled yellow building of the former Berlin Pharmaceutical Industry Co., its exhibits take the form of an antique examining room, drug compounding room and “memory room” showcasing Bangkok’s WWII medical history.

Gridthiya Gaweewong, gallerist at the Jim Thompson Art Center helped to curate the museum, which stands in memory of Dr Chai Chaiyanuwat, who founded the original Berlin Pharmaceutical Industry.
